Girl Power: Fifth Harmony of X Factor USA

I’ve been watching the show since the auditions and I  admire the people in the US who dream big and make an effort to make their dreams come true.

I am a big fan and been rooting for Britney’s kid, Carly Rose, but in this post, I’d like to share another favorite among the contestants.

Fifth Harmony (formerly LYLAS and 1432) is a group formed on The X Factor USA, members originally came as solo singers who were eliminated: Ally Brooke, Camila Cabello, Normani Hamilton, Dinah-Jane Hansen, and Lauren Jauregui.

These girls are amazing and really talented. They each have a beauty and signature voice that makes a harmony.

I like Lauren’s husky voice; Camilla’s unique tone; Dinah’s got a strong, deep voice; Ally’s high notes; and  Normani’s soulful voice.

Here’s their song for Survival Challenge earlier, making them through the semi-finals.

Do you think they have the X Factor?

Mashup!

I wonder who started mashups? I really like listening to artists who come up with this creative music mixes.

Here are the great mashups I’ve heard so far. Sharing them via YouTube videos. Hope you’ll like them as much as I did. Enjoy!

Sex and The City

I’ve been having a marathon (for the nth time) of this fun, flirty, fabulous representation of a modern woman. It’s about Fashion, relationship, and sex – I just love watching this! The series teach me WHAT NOT TO DO on relationships and WHAT TO DO as a friend. In believe, this is something for adults only. With the theme and views of the characters, no minor should watch this! Haha

Carrie, Samantha, Miranda, Charlotte

My personal favorite among the four lead characters is Charlotte York. I see myself in her. Very dramatic, very emotional, puts her heart on her sleeves, dreamy, and sweet. I love her elegance. I must say that among the girls, she’s the one with the most acceptable way of style. It’s just chic, not bordering to hoe-ish look. Her style is more of a sexy librarian. Conservative looking but sexy (not that she dresses like she’s always going to a church) . Her glamorous charm catches a lot of rich/eligible bachelors.

I like Miranda Hobbes’ toughness. She’s the lawyer in the group and I like her intelligence on their breakfast talks with the other ladies. She’s this awkward lady when it comes to guys. She’s so into corporate that she sometimes forget how to loosen up. I like her for loving Steve despite and in spite of. Her character rocked the awesomeness in not taking into consideration her career over her husband’s. Love really has no standards.

Samantha Jones, the high class PR, is the most promiscuous among them. She swings to flings and one night romance. Until she met Richard, the über rich hotelier who knocked her off her feet and showered her with luxury. I liked her character on the latter part of the last season though. When she started dating the waiter, Smith Jarred. Again, proved that love is not seeing your lifestyle or your net worth. She was changed a lot by Smith, whose character became a most sought celebrity for movies and endorsements (of course with Sam’s help). I admired their relationship – standing up for the one your love, in sickness and in health.

Carrie Bradshaw, the character I didn’t like. Well, it is not because Sarrah Jessica Parker portrayed it. (I’m giving her two thumbs up for playing the character well.) I just loathe the slutty outfits, the inconsistencies in her relationships, financial irresponsibility, lack of priorities in life, and many more. She lives way beyond her means. She’s the only one who’s renting her apartment but shops like there’s no tomorrow on expensive shoes. It was only when Aidan left her after their engagement when she was able to finally buy the apartment. But with the help of her friend Charlotte, who gave her a diamond ring from (also) her failed marriage. The more their character evolves, the more I get annoyed with her. That very character is the one I learned a lot – on the NOT TO DO part of checklist. I didn’t like it when she cheated on Aidan for Mr.Big. I didn’t like it when she chased Aidan and they got back together but eventually broke poor Aidan’s heart again after agreeing to engagement. She’s very fickle when it comes to guys. She dresses so inappropriately that her presence screams for SEX. Well, she’s the writer of the Sex and the City column and books but would that require her to look like that? She’s not decent-looking and she almost wears nothing. For me, she’s the walking disaster of failed relationships and mismanagement of life. Kudos on how SJP played the role well.

Overall, I really like the series. It has showed different types of modern woman – good to bad. I may not live in NYC but I could somewhat relate to them in terms of friendship and men. I hope there’d be a sequel to season 6. I’d love to see the four fab women on a series again.
